The Thriving Community was formed when a group of concerned Douglas County-ites started talking about the downward spiral of the economy, and how prepared the county is, not just to survive--but to THRIVE.
After a little research the group saw that Douglas County is far from ready for any kind of disaster. The group decided to host workshops to teach people how to be more self-sufficient and sustainable. The group endeavored to keep the workshops FUN, knowing that fear is the greatest enemy in an emergency situation. The workshops aim to teach new methods of sustainability, while inspiring confidence to actually implement the methods into your everyday life. The workshops focus on looking at things differently. Most of the materials we use are items that were on their way to the landfill. We are always looking for interesting items to reuse at the workshops. Please contact us if you have a pile of potential laying around! Not sure if this is for you? Take a look through our Workshop Log to see what we've done in the past, or just stop by! We won't bite! ![]() Thank you: Full Circle Compost Plant-it Nursery Sierra Crest Academy Sacred Spiral Studio Earth Goddess Waking Girl Web Design Add your business! |
